BookTelling Performances!
We specialize in reading celebrations, reading themes, and anytime family reading fun. Laurie
Story BookTelling blends the literary, visual, musical & dramatic
arts in an interactive, muti-media performance. Laurie's Stories are written in rhyme & alliteration, illustrated
in colorful, multi-faceted modalities that are presented through the
computer and onto a big screen. The big screen images are narrated
by Author/Illustrator & Mother Goose Rapper, Laurie Story Vela,
in her interactive, participatory performances that invite audiences to
play with language. Our interactive performances are geared for audience age; incorporating music and multimedia BookTelling. Based on literacy FUNdamentals like rhythm & rhyme, alliteration, illustration & characterization, our big screen visuals enhance interactive reading, word play and singing celebrating literacy & imagination! Great for families & preschool-8th grades. Older students get BookTelling, computer illustration & e book publishing + Q & A.
Performance space for image projection needed and a pull down screen is great!
Amplification in large spaces also recommended.

E Book Publishing Playshop: Creative Me @ The Library!
This is our Creative Me e book production & publishing playshop!
Send a book of creativity from your library to your community!
Merge technology and creativity with your young readers ~ let your teens express themselves too! Works great in conjunction with our BookTelling Performance so playshop participants experience our Laurie Stor-E Books in action!
* This production playshop is limited to a maximum 24 participants/ book contributors.
* This playshop works best with Elementary or Teen or Families. It can be adapted for preschool. It is a group book so keep that in mind when setting up the group dynamic!
* Participants will create a simple page of illustration and writing for the group book.
* Work can be done ahead especially with teens so that they have more time for their (art)work and then the playshop can focus more on all the technical applications!
* We take digital images of their work, record their voice reading their page and put it all together into Your Stor-E Book!
* You will receive a CD with their creation in 3 formats: a video book, a pdf and an mp3.
* You can publish their book to your library's website!
* And with your permission, we will publish it in our new branch of the
Laurie's Stories Leaping Literacy Online Library.
* You can participate in our publishing program on your own! Skip the playshop with us,
do your own production, and we'll finalize and publish!
